Mobile Mapping System: case study of the Messina-Palermo motorway layout

2009

This paper presents the first results of the MMS (Mobile Mapping System) survey on the geometry of the A20 italian motorway Messina-Palermo. The layout parameters are the essential data for an effective management of a single or a road network. In particular these parameters are essential for applying the Design Consistency methodology to proposed or existing road infrastructures; through this methodology the road manager can make sure that the road characteristics are adjusted to the driving behaviour of motorists by analysing the relationship between horizontal and vertical alignment and the design and operating speed. Both the difficult finding of the road design schemes, particularly in…

Long-term CD4+ T-cell count evolution after switching from regimens including HIV nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTI) plus protease in…

2011

Abstract Background Data regarding CD4+ recovery after switching from protease inhibitor (PI)-based regimens to regimens not containing PI are scarce. Methods Subjects with virological success on first-PI-regimens who switched to NNRTI therapy (NNRTI group) or to nucleoside reverse transcriptase (NRTI)-only (NRTI group) were studied. The effect of the switch on the ongoing CD4+ trend was assessed by two-phase linear regression (TPLR), allowing us to evaluate whether a change in the CD4+ trend (hinge) occurred and the time of its occurrence. Furthermore, we described the evolution of the frequencies in CD4-count classes across four relevant time-points (baseline, before and immediately after…

In vitro effect of cadmium and copper on separated blood leukocytes of Dicentrarchus labrax.

2013

The immunotoxic effects of heavy metals on blood leukocytes of sea bass (Dicentrarchus labrax) were examined. The cells, separated by a discontinuous Percoll-gradients, were exposed in vitro to various sublethal concentrations of cadmium and copper (10(-7) M, 10(-5) M, and 10(-3) M) and their immunotoxic effect was then evaluated by measuring neutral red uptake, MU assay, DNA fragmentation and Hsp70 gene expression. First of all, we demonstrated that the cells treated in vitro could incorporate Cd and Cu. A relationship between heavy metal exposure and dose-time-dependent alterations in responses of leukocytes from blood was found for both metals, but copper was more immunotoxic than cadmiu…

Muscle NAD+ depletion and Serpina3n as molecular determinants of murine cancer cachexia—the effects of blocking myostatin and activins

2020

Objective Cancer cachexia and muscle loss are associated with increased morbidity and mortality. In preclinical animal models, blocking activin receptor (ACVR) ligands has improved survival and prevented muscle wasting in cancer cachexia without an effect on tumour growth. However, the underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. This study aimed to identify cancer cachexia and soluble ACVR (sACVR) administration-evoked changes in muscle proteome. Methods Healthy and C26 tumour-bearing (TB) mice were treated with recombinant sACVR. The sACVR or PBS control were administered either prior to the tumour formation or by continued administration before and after tumour formation. Muscles were an…

The role of the agreement as a tool for management of property relations in cases of cross border marriages and civil unions/partnerships registered …

2021

The essay examines the role of the agreement as a tool for managing property relationships in crossborder marriages and registered partnerships, in light of EU Regulations 1103 and 1104 of 2016, on the property regimes of international married or registered couples. The main prerogative of such acts is the recognition of the parties? freedom to choose the court and the applicable law. The law governing the matrimonial property regimes, or the property consequences of registered partnerships, has universal scope. This agreement in the form envisaged, which is backed by the need for legal certainty and predictability of the applicable rules, means that the spouses, in family problems which ha…

The effects of cors network geometry and differential nrtk corrections on gnss solutions

2021

The widespread availability of Continuosly Operating Reference Station (CORS) all over the world, allows to improve more scientific and technical studies on the use of satellite positioning techniques. The aim of this paper is to understand the effects of a GNSS CORS network geometry and differential corrections on the solutions. The analysis is carried out using ten different network configurations, with different inter-distances between the stations within GNSMART Geo++ software. The coordinates of one control point placed on the top of the Department of Engineering (University of Palermo, Italy) have been used to perform several static positioning mode test within fourthy hours. Differen…

Uzņēmumam piemītošo cilvēktiesību aizsardzība konkurences tiesību pārkāpumu izmeklēšanas procesā

2021
